Alabama at Missouri
Of all the games on the Saturday slate, I am the most interested in the Tide rolling into Missouri. Since the departure of Nick Saban, Alabama has not been the same team. Currently, Alabama is a 3.5-point favorite on the road. Here are some of the keys to the game.
- Ahmad Hardy is arguing that the best running back in College Football this year. Alabama has been a mediocre rush defense this year (70th). Will Alabama be able to stop the strong rusher?
- Missouri’s rushing defense ranks #1 in all of college football. Alabama will have to take to the skies to move the ball against this D.
- Alabama’s star receiver Ryan Williams has been inconsistent so far this year. Will he show up in this big game?
Summary: Take Missouri at home to knock off the Crimson Tide and pull off a late comeback.
Oklahoma at Texas
John Mateer is currently expected to make the start at Texas. Arch Manning’s play at quarterback has been everything short of expectations. Texas is currently a 1.5 point favorite at home vs the Sooners. However, most of the public is picking the Sooners outright. Here are some keys to the game
- Arch Manning has been mobile in the pocket thus far with underwhelming arm talent. Oklahoma leads College Football with 5 sacks a game. Will the Sooners’ D-line be able to contain Arch from scrambling?
- John Mateer has been an elite QB this year. Texas’s defense has been shaky and inconsistent. Last week, DJ Lagway threw for almost 300 yards in a win against Texas. Lagway was coming off a 61-yard performance against Miami.
Summary: John Mateer will pick apart the Texas secondary and will throw for 300 yards. Oklahoma’s front will be too much for Arch Manning, and he will be sacked time and time again.
