The Baltimore Orioles 2025 season has been filled with disappointments. From top prospects underperforming, to veteran pitchers getting consistently shelled. One of the only bright spots on the team has been veteran hitter and elite defender, Cedric Mullins. Throughout the 2025 season, Mullins has posted a slashing line of .232/.324/.448 with an OPS+ of 109 (MLB Average is 100). Mullins has also provided the Orioles with a veteran presence in the clubhouse as well as exceptional defense. With Mullins being a 2026 free agent, teams should look to target the O’s centerfielder.
Although many playoff contenders could benefit from a solid centerfielder, the one that makes the most sense is Cleveland Guardians. The Guardians are not likely to go out and trade for a high-profile player, but with Nolan Jones struggling at the plate as well as in the field, Cedric Mullins could make an excellent addition to the Guardian’s roster. In addition, Mullins likely would not cost a pretty penny via trade due to the Orioles being well out of contention and the player being a free agent in the off-season.
Another team that could benefit from Mullins would be the red-hot Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers have had inconsistent play from their left fielders in 2025. With mediocre performances by Isaac Collins and Daz Cameron, Cedric Mullins could provide a much-needed offensive boost to a struggling outfield. No matter where he lands, Cedric Mullins could provide an enormous bump for a playoff contender with his veteran consistency and superb range.
